Today has been one of my most favorite days on our whole trip. We took a two hour trip to the Brittany/Normandy region in the towns of St. Malo and Mont St. Michel. The sun finally came out and the views were spectacular. Photos just can not do it justice, but I did my best to capture how magical these places are. Everytime you walk around a corner you see something new and exciting, it was never ending. I am running out of online storage space so I can only give you some highlights.
St. Malo is an old pirate town with forts and bunkers from previous wars are scattered on their own little islands. The mainland has a city inside stone walls that you can just walk along up above the city with panaramic views.
We enjoyed a picnic on the beach complete with beignets filled with caramel de burre sale (salted butter caramel, OMG!

The naturally filled swimming pool
A trip to the beach wouldn't be complete without windblown hair
The boys being boys
Yummy chocolate shops
The pirate ship in the harbor
Hmm, Ally is almost as tall as Judith
This is actually not a mouette or seagull but is called a goeland because of its red-tipped beakWe enjoyed a picnic on the beach complete with beignets filled with caramel de burre sale (salted butter caramel, OMG!

The magnificent Mont. St. Michel
On the way home we got to see a mutton run. It took about 5 minutes for the whole heard of sheep to cross the street.
We finished off the day with getting homemade pizza from a vendor truck that was so delicious. Of course we ate it in french fashion with fork and knife. That was after we picked it up to take a bite then looked over and saw everyone else whip out their utensils, lol.
Great adventures! Glad you finally got to see the sunshine!!!
ReplyDeleteHaving dinner with the Barbers tomorrow night.
ReplyDeleteFun! Where are you going to go?
ReplyDeleteSteve was hoping for a steak so we went to Black Angus. We had a very enjoyable evening. The Barber's were a lot of fun to be with.
ReplyDeleteThe food was great, too. They seemed to really enjoy the meal. Wish they were going to be here longer or that we had gotten together sooner. They've been very busy trying to fit in all the places they wanted to see while they are here. They are on their last adventure to Monterey / San Francisco, etc and come back in time to pack and head home on Wednesday. You're starting your last adventure, too. We'll be anxious to see you and hear all about it in person. This blog has been great!!! Love you lots. Be safe and have fun!!! Love, ~ Mom
