Today we took a little road trip to visit the city of Oxford where many great minds have come to study since the year of 1096. The architecture is gorgeous throughout the whole city. Since we were lacking a map and weren't part of the tour, half the time we had no idea what we were taking pictures of but were just mesmorized by it's beauty. Here are some shots of our day =)
We also went into the Ashmolean Museum which had great artifacts from all over the world, we enjoyed it especially because it was free =)
Here is the original U.S. Dollar dating back to 1862. The backside is colored green which is why they were referred to as "Greenbacks"
Many signs are helpful and self explanatory here but there are some that require some research. This sign means that it is a Universal Speed Limit. If you are on the motorway it means 70 and if you are on a street it means 50.
And to alert drivers that a crosswalk is approaching, there are these squiggly lines leading up to pedestrian crossings. They will also be on the shoulders to let you know pedestrians will be walking in the bike lane. It can make the streets look confusing with lines all over the place.
We are having a great time and today was the warmest day since we have been there. We were actually warm enough to wear short sleeves in the sun. I wish I could report my jet lag was over but I am still not able to fall asleep until 4:30 am which is about 8:30pm back at home. I forced myself awake at 10am this morning and hope to get back on a decent schedule soon, wish me luck!
Here is Ally and one of her favorite pastimes since she could walk: Chasing pigeons!

On the way to Oxford we got to enjoy more beautiful scenery with the Rapeseed fields.

Those friends of yours, Am and Bien, are good to you. :) I love that you didn't just stay home and watch tv while it rained; if you're over there, good to do as much as you can.
ReplyDeleteCan you blog a bit about how the Brits are? Like are they friendly, formal, fun, serious? Etc.
