Speechless...

Today I am just going to let the pictures speak for themselves, we were speechless. At first we were disappointed the clouds came in just as we reached the top of Aiguille du Midi on Mont Blanc but then all the sudden we were treated to such grandeur!

 Hike to Lac Bleu for the most gorgeous picnic spot!

 Back down and walked to another train station to head up to Mer de Glace.

 570 steps down to the tunnels carved into the middle of the glacier. In 1985, the glacier was all the way up to this first platform. They have had to keep adding stairs to reach the glaciers over the last 40 years. I decided to stay up top and just enjoy the beautiful views while the others made the climb.

Heading through the Chamonix Center when we popped into a store in time for the National anthem for the World Cup Finals! We walked by pub after pub with TVs in their patios catching glimpses of the game and saw their first goal.

We listened to the rest of the game in the car on the way home and based on the cheering (because I could only pick up a few words) France won the World Cup! First time in 20 years. Everyone is very excited, Vive le France! Champions du Monde!
