Cascades du Hérisson

Today we explored the Hérisson Waterfalls. It is a series of 7 waterfalls. It was a great hike for me because we could park near the top and I could hike downhill the whole way.

Unfortunately this time of year the grand falls were just a trickle bute we had a fun hike. At the bottom we has some lunch before Eric, Gaëlle, and Charles hiked back up, got the car and came down and around to pick Ally and I up.
Ally and I had some time to contemplate and enjoy the peaceful creek.

We headed to the entrance to the parking lot where they could easily pick us up. So here we are waiting by this sign and as cars started to pull in they began to stop and ask for details about the waterfalls.

My French repetoir includes conversations about what their name is, do they speak French or English, and what, where, when they want to eat. So after the first car stopped and I resorted to mostly sign language gestures (which seems to be more helpful than my French), we decided after that one to just say, Je ne parle pas le Français!

On the way home we stopped by a lake to cool off and I think we found where everyone in the Jura is today!
For dinner tonight we decided to make them an American specialty of cheeseburgers, fries, salad, chocolate chip cookies dipped in milk. They loved it and have only made burgers one other time but it didn't turn out well because she baked them in the oven. So Laure enjoyed watching our process so she could make them again after we leave as we are taking notes on their simple but delicious meals as well.

We have been in the Jura almost one week now and we have yet to see anything that resembles fast food like at home. When we get hungry on the go we stop at the store and pick up some sandwich fixings of brioche or baguette, prosciutto, salami, and cheese such as comte, morbier, or Laughing Cow. Because these things are local specialties they are so much cheaper than at home for the same quality. So we are enjoying it as much as we can for now!
